• Marisco Vineyards, Marlborough

    Completion: 2018

    Architecture: Bureaux

    Construction: Robinson Construction

Structex were commissioned in 2010 to provide structural engineering services for a $40m landmark winery facility for Marisco Vineyards Ltd in the Waihopai Valley. Dubbed “The Rock Project” due to its 14m high double skinned gabion walls, the winery includes many time and cost saving innovations: the roof, ceiling and fixed wine lines were preassembled on the ground and lifted into position in sections to meet pressing timeframes and eliminate safety and access challenges; mechanical services are hidden away in underground tunnels; and the walls constructed in purpose-made stainless steel gabions mounted onto a modular steel structure.
