Waimea Dam Slipform Temporary Works

Location
Lee Valley Road, Tasman

The Waimea Community Dam project, completed in 2023, provides security for the Tasman Regions water supply for the next 100 years. This concrete faced rock fill dam was expected to contain approximately 13 million cubic meters of water.

Structex was engaged by Fulton Hogan to assist with the formwork required for both the spillway and the 53 meter high, 220m wide upstream dam face. This design utilized customized steel slipforms, climbing trusses vertically or being pulled up by a winch, to allow a consistent concrete pour, finish and enhanced worked safety. The works were successful allowing this section of work to be completed efficiently.
