Structex was engaged to design the powerhouse for the 7.7MW Amethyst Hydro Scheme. This involved the design of a precast concrete building envelope with a removable roof for equipment installation. The foundations were over 4m deep to encompass the penstock generator and tailrace.

A challenging design due to the impact of the Alpine Fault located less than 1km away. Health & Safety was the key driver in the design due to the harsh environment and depth of excavations.
