This involved a creative self-supporting cradle system which removed the need for substantial propping when casting the piers, as well as lifting plans and careful cross-reviews of designer and contractor methodologies. A key challenge which was overcome was ensuring the stability of the original structure when parts were being cut and removed to maintain a safe site for those carrying out the demolition works.
