David has worked in the Structural Engineering Industry for 30 years, becoming a Chartered Professional Engineer in 2003. He has worked on a variety of projects including adventure tourism projects with long span cable structures, multi-story buildings and earthquake strengthening. In 2003, one of the tourism projects won an ACENZ Gold Award.

Starting his career as a draughting technician in Auckland, David moved to Christchurch in 1997 to complete his Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours at the University of Canterbury. David joined Structex in 2017 and has since been involved with many projects, including the design of a 4-storey base-isolated hospital building. He worked in Lyttelton for four years before relocating to the Christchurch office at the end of 2021.

David has two children, who both attend Otago University, and lives with his partner in Whakaraupō. He enjoys sailing, paddle boarding and landscaping his property with native trees.
